Saving Our Digital Heritage
1. The situation today compares with what happened in Alexandria because we are at risk of losing huge amounts of important data, just like all the data that was lost with the destruction of the Ancient Library of Alexandria. Because the average life span of a Web site is only 44 to 75 days, information is being continually lost. Another reason for this loss is the constant upgrade of storage equipment, with computers no longer reading the old kind were valuable data is stored.
2. I think that the governement should invest in this project because if all the memory was lost all the valuable knowledge and money that was invested in research would be lost as well.
