graduation speech
I think it is very pessimistic and disscouraging to the graduating class, telling them that the middle class, which most of them belong to, is crumbling, and also telling them that they will most likely be unsuccessful.
First I would like to congratulate all of the graduates sitting here today for making it this far. I am sure that it has been a very difficult and life-changing four years at this school and I applaud you on this milestone. I would like to express the hope that I have for you to lead the next generation for the better. It is now up to you to fix what my generation as well as the generations before mine could not. In this room I see various unfamiliar faces. What I hope, however, is to eventually see all of you succeed in whatever you may choose to do. Yes, you are entering a world and a country with many internal problems. But that dopes not mean that we should simply give up. You went through these four years of college for a reason, and now you have your perfect opportunity to put your four years of hard work to use. And yes, most likely you won’t be automatically successful at first, but that is how life works out sometimes. You just need to pick yourself back up and continue in your endeavors. I am not saying that it is going to be easy, it will be hard and often very frustrating, but keep going. And be brave. Elbert Hubbard once said. “The biggest mistake you can make in life is to continually be afraid that you will make one.” In order to be successful and make a difference you must take chances and take risks. If you are afraid to even try you will not get anywhere you want to be. So thank you very much for inviting me here to speak to you today, and I very much hope that you will take some of my words to heart. So congratulations and good luck!
